The Menger Hotel, located in downtown San Antonio, Texas, was constructed in 1859 by German immigrant William Menger, as an expansion of his boarding house business and adjunct to his brewery. Menger Hotel sits only 100 yards from the historical site of the Alamo.
Over the years, guests such as Theodore Roosevelt, Sidney Lanier, Babe Ruth, Mae West, Oscar Wilde, Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, Sarah Bernhardt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Gutzon Borglum, were said to frequent the hotel, as well as the bar within.

Hotels such as the Menger, reaped in history, are also filled with ghost stores. Menger does not fall short of intrigue and illustrious tales of spirits roaming the halls.
The hotel holds the unofficial title of "The Most Haunted Hotel in Texas." The Menger claims to host 32 different spirits including Richard King and Sallie White, a maid at the Menger who was murdered by her husband and buried at the hotel's expense.
